“Ya Shi Xiang” (Duck Poop) Dancong belongs to the Silver Flower Aroma category and is one of the most representative Phoenix Dancong aroma styles from Phoenix Mountain, Chaozhou, Guangdong. Its distinctive flavour is closely linked to the local terroir, especially the unique mountain environment and soil conditions. The name “Ya Shi Xiang” comes from the locally known “Ya Shi soil,” a mineral-rich yellow earth found in the Phoenix Mountain area.

According to local accounts, this cultivar was highly prized in earlier times for its outstanding aroma. To prevent valuable tea trees from being taken without permission, tea farmers deliberately gave it an unappealing name, which ironically helped protect the tea plants. Over time, this unusual name spread widely and gradually became one of the most popular and recognisable Phoenix Dancong varieties.

相傳早年此品種香氣出眾，為避免優良茶樹被私下挖走，茶農刻意為它取了一個不討喜的名字，反而成功保護了茶樹資源。隨著時間推移，這個看似奇怪的名字流傳開來，逐漸成為相當受歡迎的單叢代表。
